Yoga Retreat:

 

The yoga retreat at Coolatting Lodges, Shillelagh, Co Wicklow, was such a treat. Arriving Friday evening at this scenic location and the warm welcome from Aggie set the scene for a truly wonderful and relaxing weekend. Aggie showed us to our beautifully restored lodge, which we shared with several others, and the private bedrooms were extremely comfortable and charming.

 

The yoga classes alternated between energising and relaxing, depending on the time of day, with the morning hatha yoga setting you up for the day and the yin and gentle yoga practices leaving you feeling calm and relaxed at the end of the day. I learned that a gentle approach to yoga does not mean it’s easy—in fact doing yoga slowly builds strength and allows you to truly experience the pose and find space and peace. Aggie’s spiritual approach catered for your mind as well as the body, always with a mindfulness approach. As well as food for the soul, Aggie also provided an abundance of wholesome vegetarian food which was just delicious, especially her homemade bread and spreads. In fact, she could just as easily have done a cookery course as a yoga course—perhaps she could combine the two!! In between eating and yoga, there was some free time to go on some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside.

 

I didn’t want the weekend to end! But I did leave feeling wonderfully calm, and rested and restored. Thanks so much for a great retreat!
